Underslung overhead travelling cranes

A single-girder underrunning overhead crane is a type of lifting and material handling equipment. The steel structure of the crane consists of one main girder and two end carriages, with the bridge typically designed as an I-beam. The hoisting mechanism is an electric hoist comprising a drive unit (electric motor), brake, gearbox, and load-handling devices such as a hook or other specialized attachments. Horizontal movement is provided by a travelling trolley, while bridge travel is driven by electric motors equipped with brakes and gearboxes.

The underrunning crane is mounted to the building structure, such as beams, columns or walls. The primary supporting elements of such cranes are the crane runways, which are typically designed as suspended runway beams. These beams may consist of standard rolled steel sections or specially engineered steel structures.

These cranes are intended for load handling in industrial and warehouse facilities.
