Double girder crane with hydraulic grab for handling hay bales

№ 5957

A specialized crane was manufactured for an agricultural holding. The crane was integrated into the technological process of a bioenergy complex designed to efficiently convert agricultural waste into energy.

To automate the handling of straw bales within the warehouse facility, COSE specialists designed, manufactured and installed a double-girder overhead crane. The crane has a rated load capacity of 3 t, a span of 10.8 m, and a lifting height of 6 m.

A key feature of the crane design is the hydraulic grab, enabling the handling of either one or two bales simultaneously. This approach ensures operational flexibility and optimizes loading cycles.

Process flow diagram of energy generation:

1️⃣ Straw bales are formed from biomass after harvesting grain crops.
2️⃣ The bales are stored in a dedicated warehouse facility.
3️⃣ Using the crane, the bales are fed into the boiler unit, where they are used as solid biofuel.
4️⃣ During combustion, high-pressure superheated steam is generated and supplied to a steam turbine.
5️⃣ The turbine drives an electric generator that produces electricity for the enterprise’s internal needs or for further supply to the grid.
